I don't get it, is this yet another multi-verse event instead of just another IDW issue? Isn't it too soon to do this again, we just got the Battle Nexus arc.

It’s an oversized special issue. I don’t know the page count, but the first story will be another installment of the ongoing by Yang and Williams II. The second story is by Eastman, Waltz and assorted artists. It follows Renet dealing with the ramifications of Battle Nexus #5.

They used this image in the editorial write up in the back of #19 and had this to say:

I know I said I was done whining about the whole “300 issues” thing, but why not once more for good measure now that it’s out?

So Renet is cleaning things up after the events of Battle Nexus, but why is she only tending to comic book versions? Many animated and live-action turtles were involved.

And if we’re only counting “main” volumes, why did TMNTA get a spread? It’s also not really fair to call it the first “first branch that sprouted”? I mean, I guess that makes sense in a way since it started as a straight FW adaptation.

Volume 2 went completely ignored.

I hated most of what they said about Image. Very weird to call it the “insane love child” of Mirage and Archie. Like, wtf?

Volume 4 was nicely represented, couple of weird things that didn’t actually happen, but oh well. Got a good chuckle out of “they never lost sight of what’s most important… each other!”

What? The entire point of Volume 4 and late Mirage is that they all drift apart as they age.

Then I personally would have chosen Santolouco for the IDW spread. But I get why Duncan got the nod.

Archie was the first comic spinoff, from both Mirage writers like Murphy and diverging from the original cartoon, so I can see why they call it the first branch.

The implication is that the tree trunk is Mirage and that TMNTA is the first branch to sprout out of it. If that's the case, that's bullsh**. The first branch would be Fred Wolf, with TMNTA either being a SECOND branch or a sub-branch sprouting out of that first Fred Wolf branch.
