It would also be good in the new film if the TMNT never say "PIZZA" or "COWABUNGA"!!!

I'd feel bait and switched and dirty. I'd say I'd walk out of the movie... but if it's at the end credits, I'm kind of supposed to, aren't I?

You really have to ask yourself though, does it matter? Does them having or not having add anything to the story what so ever? Unless the bandanna color is written into the story, and at that point they must really be out of ideas, it's not important. They could have red bandannas and still be burping and yelling "Cowabunga". The tone of the film isn't going to change just because their masks do. This film is being used to promo the new cartoon series so if that's indication we can see where it's going.

I little toss back would be fun but if it's not there I'm not going to care. I love the Mirage comics, I love the cartoon series.

If you have all that $$$, why not do us a favor and buy the movie rights so Steve Barren can finally be allowed to share his directors cut

Yes. It helps sell them to audiences as a legitimate ninja clan, something they claim to be.

Multi-colored bandannas make that aspect of the TMNT a bit of a sham. And I don't know about you guys, but I don't like the TMNT I read/watch/[insert word] to be a sham.

Multicolored is what the majority of people know the TMNT as. And The TMNT aren't a clan, their brothers and a team. The Foot are a clan and they look the same not the TMNT. No one making the movie is going to say,"WAIT, what about those super hardcore TMNT fans, F*ck the rest of the audience".

We've been over this. A TMNT movie isn't going to be made or broken by any existing fans anyway... so why should it overly concern itself with them at all?

They're ninja. They're a clan. They were raised from birth to assassinate Oroku Saki (I believe it's even flat out said that they're the "Hamato Clan" in the comics). Splinter is their leader. This is well established in the source material. You are free to plug your ears, cover your eyes and go "LALALALALA!!!" but that doesn't change the facts.

I'd prefer the multicolored bandannas. I think I said it in another thread like this, I find the colors very symbolic of the TMNT. Not as in "Red = Anger, etc), but when I see red, orange, blue, and purple in a combination, I automatically think TMNT. If theres four pieces of a board game that are that color, I'll think TMNT, for example. Kind of like when I see red, yellow, pink, blue, and black, i think Power Rangers. The colors have been long associated with each other.

As long as the movie itself is good, I could care less if they all had black bandannas.

Quoted for truth. I mean, it'd be a minor gripe, 'Aw man. They never wore black, what the heck' from me, but just a nitpicky one, and I acknowledge that. It's nothing that would make-or-break the film. As long as the film itself turns out good, the mask colors is just an aesthetic choice.

How so? Outside of the TMNT, I've never heard of ninja uniforms of any kind including bandannas, much less red ones. They don't, for example, help conceal their identities or hold parts of the uniform together, so what purpose are they supposed to serve? Besides, one of the primary goals of a ninja is to blend in to avoid being seen, so red seems like a rather impractical choice of color.

Personally, I don't think either red or multicolor bandannas were meant to be realistic, especially considering the fact that the entire concept of the TMNT started off as a joke.

THANK YOU.

People need to calm down with the "Realism" talk. Who cares?

Exactly my point. Ninjas were dressed as villagers, merchants, monks... anything to avoid suspicion. Giving them all matching color headbands don't do anything to give them legitimacy as a ninja clan.

If you want to get crazy, Raphael's trench coat and hat is the most ninja-faithful disguise we've seen

still the foot use a initial uniform, and most ninja clans in comics and movies uses same uniform. not realistic but that's what pop culture have colored the Ninja through the years.

for me the red masks would be a positive thing having in the movies, but I'll cope seeing color masks. but I'd love to see moments where they don't use masks. they could use the masks as they face off the foot.

Think I read this somewhere, but I can't remember where I got it from , but the masks was in honor of their master, could be my head just fooling me, is there any origin about the masks?

No one's talking about uniforms, just uniformity. You won't find any ninja clans with members whining about, "I need to express myself and my individuality! I want a purple bandanna, not a red one! Wahh!"

Such ninja would probably get assassinated by their own clan. And they'd probably deserve it.

Perhaps. But it's the color of Clan Hamato, for better or worse.

The same way a gang (Yakuza, for example) or a Marine squad might all go and get a common tattoo, I'm sure it's intended to create a sort of visual bond between the members of Clan Hamato.

To a hugely overstated extent by the fandom, mostly to justify the bizarre "additions" of the children's spinoff universes.

According to Eastman and Laird, while there were admittedly a couple of parodic elements in the first issue, it wasn't a parody -- now I guess you can do whatever you want, but I'm not going to argue with both creators of the TMNT.

Keep in mind though, that the Turtles aren't your average ninja clan

Don't get me wrong though. I would love to see the turtles all wearing red. It really does give them a more unified and team-like feel. Due to general audiences though, I don't see us finding a way out of the multi-colored masks. Like some have mentioned, I think the best route to go is to have them switch masks at some threshold in the film. ( The toy companies may like the idea of being able to package tons of " Leonardo w/ red mask"'s as well as "Leonardo w/ blue mask") Also, when it comes to marketing, they could easily just show of the multicolored mask parts of the film in trailers and promotional images.

So how would the switch occur in a way that makes sense and feels good? That's a little tougher...Honestly, I think the April idea could work...but they'd have to come up with an integral and prominent reason. " Psh, guys I can never tell you apart! ...Take these multicolored masks!" Kinda cheesy, huh?
