You're being a tad over-generalized with calling the Platinum Dunes film "a kid's movie." Kids will be able to see it, but obviously this is going to be more for a broader audience. Kids, teenagers, twenty-somethings, the gamer crowd, potheads, etc. I seriously doubt the final film will be anything more or less than PG-13, and probably no more of a kid's movie than the Transformers films were.

Integrity. In a ninja turtle movie. Ok then. God forbid the movie has entertaining bits. That would be terrible. I want nothing but biting social and political commentary.

The Transformers movies were for kids. Sure there were adult'ish' jokes but those films were aimed at kids. I'd say the same for every Star Wars film.

Sometimes it's ok to have silly sh*t in a movie.

I'll take the classic series and it's nice, compact wholesome storytelling and lovable characters over the grim-as-grit comics and movies anyday. TMNT has always worked much better as a complete farce.

We were lucky the characters were as quirky as the cartoon, but the structure of the first movie was geared towards the soulless comics, and Shredder was quite generic.

I still like the first film, I'm just saying that kind of TMNT isnt what I love about the franchise.

Come to think of, perhaps I shouldnt have boxed ALL the movies in there, just that first one, the closest to the comics.

I really get hot when people badmouth the old show, if it entertained kids, it did it's job, blacklisting it because it doesnt match up to their angsty preferences (which they'll grow out of as they age) isnt on in my view. It holds up even today.

No it isn't. The OT is a fairly entertaining kids show with wacky sci-fit plots and fun main characters. It was never meant to be a piece of complex plot driven stories and it never tried to be something it wasn't.

Krang could work easily in a movie, and while Bebop and Rocksteady might be tough to handle correctly, it can be done.

Dude, chill! Seriously, personal stabs based one or two comments? You don't even know me. It has nothing to do with me being older. By the way, I'm 26. Not 75. Sure, I've broadened my horizons since I was 5 or 6 years old, but most of the stuff I liked as a kid, I still like to this day. The first Ninja Turtles movie is one of them.

I'm sorry, but you really don't know me at all. I never mentioned anything "angsty." Of course, getting upset when somebody doesn't like a show that you like, isn't that "angsty?" Either way, let me amend my statement. I still don't like the Fred Wolf show, and I'm not a fan of using those elements in a feature film. But any real judgement made on the film won't happen until a trailer is released, or even until I see it. I'm not saying that they can't or won't make a great film. I'm not saying that I don't want a carefree, entertaining film. I'm just saying that I have reservations about those elements in the film, and I'm not saying it's wrong to think otherwise.

Also, I don't care whether something holds up to today. I actually sort of prefer the styles of movies from the past. But, anyway, that is neither here nor there. I bought a couple of the OT DVDs, and I just couldn't get into it. It has nothing to do with when it was made or with how shows are made today.

I dunno, everyone has that one movie/tv show/video game/song that everybody likes/doesn't like that you don't think is deserving of the high/low opinions that it gets.

To be fair, I feel the same way Zarius does when people say that they would have preferred Michael Chrichton's dry, serious book to be made over the Jurassic Park film that Spielberg made. Though, I typically direct all my "angsty " retorts towards the Twilight crowd.

Some people like some things some people like other things, which will bring on different mind sets of certain ideas for pretty much everything. Stop saying each other is wrong and just listen to each other and think it over of how they thought up their opinion and learn from it. Other wise you become ignorant and just a stubborn being. Learn, adapt, and play nice. Give out your opinions, but don't smother each other in it and get upset when someone has a different one.

Just try listening and reasoning how the opinions came to be and just roll and learn with each other for once... Or don't say anything.

Actually no. I grasp it just fine. All the deep and emotional stories such as 'Hey. Donatello is really small now. That's a thing.' and 'April is a drawing so I don't have to actually write a complex story about April being infertile'.
